The capybara is a rodent of unusual size hailing from South America. Coming in at one and a half feet tall and a hundred and fifty pounds, the capybara is the largest known rodent on earth and is perhaps the most cuddle worthy critter to enter our animal powered collection. An amphibious critter, they prefer to stay near water but are comfortable on land or in lakes or rivers. Extremely sociable, capybara typically live in groups of around ten, but clusters of up to a hundred rodents have been documented.
Like some other rodents, capybaras are herbivores. Equipped with teeth that will continue to grow over their lifetime, they chew bark to grind down their teeth. As an amphibian, the capybara can dive for up to five minutes. Their feet have hoof-like claws, and webbed toes allowing them to gain purchase on slick or precarious surfaces. Additionally, they are extremely agile in both water and on land, despite their size. An adult capybara can run over thirty miles per hour, keeping up with horses. They are evasive enough to avoid snakes and jaguars in the wild.

Author’s Note: There is a lot of fun in this build, and it may be hard to reconcile Evasion with the dopey looks of a capybara. The capybara is an easy target due to their size and Evasion requires an Active Defense so it’s reasonable to say, being quick only goes so far in the wild if you’re still an easy target.
