This week we’re looking at number crunchers, The unsung heroes and / or the backbone of the business world, the Data Analysts. Data Analysts consolidate, organize, and restructure data in a way that it provides meaningful insights and is understandable to others. These are the people that figure out that the cost of gas has gone down or up nationally after adjusting for regional costs, identify trends such as what common elements are in a series of popular films, or partners of abuse or violations of rules within a system. In short, they are like a data detective.
While we couldn’t find any heroes who might list Data Analyst in their mundane persona’s CV, there are a number of heroes known for crunching the numbers. Top of the list is probably Oracle, former Batgirl, and librarian Barbra Gordon became a hub of intel, munging data and putting clues together when other heroes couldn’t solve the case. Other good examples include, David Lieverman AKA Microchip, who served as a key source of intel and resources for the Punisher, and while not exactly a hero, the MCU’s Ultron who’s initial programing was designed to evaluate data and identify emergent threats. (The problem being the biggest threat to humanity being humanity.)
