This week we’re looking at the power of sound, but before we start, we begin with the powers that didn’t make the cut, AKA the ♪♫ Reject Rundown! ♫♪
- Drumming Mastery: Because there is no ability beyond playing well, we can start with Art: Music, and a Specialty for Drumming. What may be an important call out here is that, Talents aren’t necessarily skills, and don’t have to have training. Taking the It’s Not Skill, It’s Power Drawback can let this Talent be taken away.
- Opera Mastery: Didn’t we just cover this?
- Social Mastery: While the entry goes into a number of interesting applications, a lot of this can be summed up by having a Power that supports Expression, and Mental. This gives the hero bonuses in every social situation.
- Obsession Empowerment: There have been a few variations on this idea. In short though, these work best as Drives, allowing the hero to push themselves when their obsession appears.
- Blueprint Absorption: Let me admit, this may be me missing something in the description. However, this seems to be the Speed Reader Boon with Talents in Engineering, Repair, and Science, as it does not grant the ability to fabricate the blueprint, just an understanding how to do it.
- Spatial Flight: Reading the description, I picture space folding from Dune. This can be done via the Waypoints Boon, and New Movement Power Boons.
On to the main show
The description given indicates that the character is a vessel for sound based entities, or some elemental force of sound. This can be interpreted a number of ways, such as possession, to some type of connection to the forces of sound, be it mystic or something more scientific. The character can manipulate ambient sound, including music, voices, or sonic vibrations. This can allow for some unique and deceptive options for a hero.

Starting with the basics, the hero can alter sounds changing what people are hearing, which can deafen them or cause them to become disoriented and confused. When they speak, they can ensure only those they want to hear them do and can whisper over a long range and still be heard. In a battle, this whisper can become a roar, impacting everyone within a Medium Cone with no means to resist but sheer force of will. Of course, they can still do pure damage, knocking foes back and shattering glass and crystal with ease.
Some characters might add in a Sonic Flight, with other speed related powers as they scream to keep themselves in the air, or a Limited Uses to represent losing their breath and needing a moment to recover.
