- A fast and deceptively brutal style, designed to turn the entire body into a weapon.
A Betawinese style of Silat from the Senen sub-district of Central Jakarta, Indonesia. A hybrid martial arts, combining the older silat forms with southeastern China’s kuntao. Silat has been developed to utilize every part of the body to strike, grapple, or throw opponents. While there are a number of competition forms, Kwitang Silat remains close to its roots as a quick effective fighting form.
Utilizing quick, short movements, Kwitang Silat trains practitioners to strike rapidly inflicting harm to their target. This same speed allows them to adapt and defend as necessary, grappling or throwing foes to keep them off balance. The beauty and speed of this style can hide the brutal truth, martial arts are tools for battle, and when pushed the Silat practitioner exemplifies the desire to overcome all challenges.
Associated Weapons: Javlin, Knives (Golok, Kerambit, Kris, Parang, Pisau), Short Spear, Short Whip/Garrote (Selendang), Sicle (Celurit, Sabit), Staff (Toya), Sword (Klewang, Pedang), Trident (Chabang)
From a tight, medium, or high, horse stance, the Kwitang Silat practitioner can quickly shift positioning, strike and adapt to the combat situation. The wide legged stance is solid, and sure footed, which allows the martial artist to act quickly without balance issues. From this position the martial artist can maintain an offensive or defensive posture depending on the tempo of the battle.

Use In Conflict
Once you have prepared for the battle ahead, activating your Passive Defense, it’s time to wade into danger. Where you are in the Initiative order is not as important, as you have both offensive and defensive combos at your disposal. Counter Takedown Prepare to defend, and Drop Prepare are staples in a fight and allow you to shift between offense and defense. Amazing allows you to overcome high defenses and paired with a Set Up allows you to carry the benefit forward.
