In the last poll focused on Power Level, which is a bit out of order from the core book, but there’s a method to our madness. By asking the community where they see characters in the setting as compared to their comic counterparts, and how they fit into this world.
The setting so far:
In the year 199X, corporate greed led to a series of experiments to create an underclass that would serve as cheap labor and servants for humanity. This ended in the only way it could have, the complete collapse of society. The mutants rebelled, using EMP bombs to free others, and wipe records of the experiments used to create them. Humans fought back with plagues that only hastened the end, killing human and mutant alike, and causing strange new chimera to emerge. In the years that followed, brutal conflicts raged across the globe.
The wars continued until the barrels ran dry, and the last bullet was fired. There may be weapon caches hidden away, but for the majority of people, guns have gone extinct. Of course, the odds were never even, and mutants, having far fewer resources to begin with, learned to compensate before the humans. Blending their natural talents with martial abilities. These advantages giving them an edge to carve out a new civilization in the wastelands of the old.
Our new poll asks the question, are man and mutant still at war?
- Option 1: Unending War: Even if they only have rocks and sticks, the battle will never end.
- Option 2: Battlefronts: There are fronts and havens for both sides.. Battlegrounds tend to focus on resources or travel.
- Option 3: Hot & Cold: There are no active fronts anymore, but skirmishes erupt from time to time, and outright war simmers below the surface.
- Option 4: The Crying Times: The war is over, humans have their settlements, mutants have theirs. However, bands of humans refuse to let go, and there are areas where battle still rages, unaware of the new landscape emerging around them.
- Option 5: Cool Embers: The last great battles have been fought, humans have retreated to their corners, mutants to theirs. The shadow of war looms long as humans and mutants attempt to cross the lines. Humans for resources, mutants to liberate their fellow people.
- Option 6: New Era: Human and mutant have found a lasting peace. The landscape is very different now. There is no central governments, and technology has been pushed back a century or more, except for the most common items. People struggle to find their place in this new world.
I voted for New Era. It’s all a facade though, the humans are just biding their time so they can build up forces to wipe out the mutants.
