This week we are digging into Electric Life, Superpower wiki describes it swapping electricity for life energy, digging into the applications, we see this could also be a body of electricity or any number of other explanations that we can explore in the article. With that in mind, let’s hit that random button a few more times for some rejects.

- Powers Via Chi: This is more of an origin for one’s powers. Take a look at our series on martial arts for some power ideas that fit this.
- Effect Stacking: Less of a power, and more of “buffs stack” it seems. Things like Tactics, appropriately enough for the image used, the Aid Power Boon, and other Supports should give you this type of effect. There is also the use of Willpower for Power Tricks or Alternate Source depending on how you want to mix it up.
- Shojo Protagonist: Generally. You can start with Ultra Human (Metahumans Rising, Pg. 75) and build out from there.
- Intangible Attacks: These attacks ignore defenses,although the article says bypass, that’s a separate combat maneuver in Metahumans Rising, mixing Power Strike and the Penetrating Boon will let you apply almost all the damage of an attack while ignoring the armor. Reduced Detection can be added for hard to see powers as well.
- Nether Bow Construction: Looks like the bow is still a bow, build the gear you want, and take the Fast Draw Boon, with the effect of drawing it from the ether.
The description of this power is short, but states that electricity is the animating force within your corporeal form. Where it gets interesting is applications which range from absorbing electricity to immortality. Let’s do this!

At its core Electric Life allows the hero to absorb electrical forces, which animates their body, charging them for improved defenses, and offense. Once charged, the hero possesses moderate armor, and can unleash their full damage potential. However, even without being charged the hero can deliver bolts of electricity striking everyone in a line, or a single target at long range. The targets suffer a primary blast, and secondary hit from the current. This leaves them trapped as the target recovers from the electric shock.
While Electric Life seems more attuned to character concepts like a lightning throwing Frankenstein’s Creation, this power can be tweaked to create living lightning by adding things like Insubstantial, Phased, and New Movement Boons. If you want to more fully embrace this Promethean concept, swap the Ranged and Line Boons for Painful and Penetrating, both linked to Absorption. This represents them coursing with energy.
