This week, we wanted to explore one of our older series, for all the silliness the research and churn up. We are going to explore all the interesting things one can do with Carbon Dioxide Generation, but if you’re like me, the reject rundown is just fun. So without further ado, let’s get into it…
♪♫ Reject Rundown! ♫♪
- Candy Hair: The description is mostly cute, but could be used to define the No Need to Eat Boon or an Aid to Fasting as a narrow power or part of a larger power.
- Primordial Darkness Manipulation: A surprisingly fun option early on, but this falls under Rule number 2, no replays. Check out Nox for the core Metahumans Rising book, or the City of Powers 3: Dark article.
- Assassination Prodigy: This falls more under an Origin, or source of the power. The article on ninjutsu can serve as a solid starting place, moving the style from a trained skill, to natural talent.
- Grandfather Inheritance: Much like Assassination Prodigy above, this is probably better left as an Origin, as the resulting powers could be virtually anything. Fun fact, Guardian falls into Grandfather’s Inheritance.
- Absorption Negation: As this is the Advantage associated with Fasting, the simplest method is to take the Fasting Talent, possibly with the Not Skill, Power Drawback. Alternatively, this can be added as part of a Support Power, and gifted to others through the Aid Power Boon.
- Fate Deity: Rule number 5.
- Limited Bodily Coverage: Not sure how this landed in the Superpower Wiki, but if you want to simulate something like a plate carrier, or bulletproof vest, add the Drawback: Limited Use: Armor provided is completely negated by the Bypass Armor Maneuver.
Like a lot of entries from the Superpower Wiki there’s not a ton of detail for Carbon Dioxide Generation.
The user can generate, create, emit or otherwise produce carbon dioxide, an important greenhouse gas and is considered toxic when in high concentrations.
Yep, that’s it, that’s all we get. However, I think we have some meat on these bones, if we get creative!

Power Review and Use
The character can create carbon dioxide in a wide cone. This can cause victims to become disoriented, and eventually suffocate. The power leverages compounding effects, by putting the Target into a Surprised state through Disoreinitig, this increases the base Damage of the Attack making it easier to reduce the Target’s Constitution. This only compounds the increasing difficulty to avoid Suffocation Damage. Finally, even if the victim is able to escape the cone of carbon dioxide the effects take time to shake off, Lingering for several Turns afterwards.
Side Note: Carbon dioxide is a non-flammable gas, this gives the character a number of fun additional Willpower Tricks whenever facing a fire based character. Time to extinguish the Torch.
