This week we are looking at motorcycles, another staple of superheroes, particularly those without powers. (We’re looking at you Bat-Fam…) Because we are exploring something that is typically meant for one rider, with a potential passenger, let’s do two builds, one sleek and speedy (like you might see for Nightwing or Red Robin), and one meant to tear up the road (more Ghost Rider or Lobo).
Sleek & Speedy
The 2017 MTT 420RR is our starting point. Capable of reaching 273 kph / 170 mph, it’s the fastest recorded motorcycle. With a low shield and aerodynamic design, it’s meant to be leaned into, not something you sit back and relax on.
The Supercycle (Classic Motorcycle + Advanced + Reinforced + Mobile (2) + Shooter + Cluster + Maneuver Specialist)
Basic Rolls 12 + 3d6
Stamina 18
Defense 12 Dice 3 Armor 3
Offense Hidden Machineguns 18 Dice 4 Range Long Damage 12 Note Only fires forward.
Offense Micro-Missiles 24 Dice 5 Range Long (Close Radius) Damage 12 Note Targeting Medium Range or closer results in Half Damage and no radius. The warhead is too close to detonate.
Offense Ram 12 Dice 3 Range Close Damage 6 Note Cycle Takes the same Damage.
Mobile: Can move 2 Range Increments and attack in the same turn..
Cost: Tools Boon Vehicle + 5 additional Instances of Vehicle = Tools MA3
The Supercycle moves fast and decimates any obstacles in their way. However, its focus is on going from point A to B, and the road ahead. Attacks from behind, or the sides will leave the Superbike exposed and unable to engage its machineguns. However, if the hero is running from something, they can rely on speed to put distance between them and whatever they are trying to escape.
Roadhogs
This time we are going for heft, torque and the ability to bully our way down the road. For that, we’re starting with the Triumph Rocket 3, with an engine larger than the engine of some car’s. Topping out at 225 kph / 140 mph, it’s moderately slower than the MTT 420RR, but unless you’re in a race, who’s going to notice?
The Beast (Classic Motorcycle + Advanced + Tough + Mobile + Brawler + Striker + Maneuver Specialist)
Basic Rolls 12 + 3d6
Stamina 18
Defense 18 Dice 3 Armor 3
Offense Ramprow 24 Dice 5 Range Close Damage 12
Offense Plow Through 10 Dice 6 Range Close Damage 12 Note Move 2 Range Increments hitting a Target in between.
Mobile: Can move 1 Range Increment and attack in the same turn.
Cost: Tools Boon Vehicle + 3 additional Instances of Vehicle = Tools MA2
The Beast takes a different path towards clearing the road, plowing through. Nothing is going to stand in the way of the Beast.
Of course, these are simply starting points. Adding Cluster to create a trail of fire, or boosting Mobile even further for a flying cycle are just a few examples.
