Seeing the bombs detonate in space, the squad of twenty four strike fighters, move into attack formations lead by their champion, a genetically enhanced super solider, Secundus. Generating a natural warp field Secundus manipulates and controls space around themselves.
This is probably the largest scale scenario we’re run in Metahumans Rising. The invading fleet was split into three groups. The main offense, the strike fighters, providing high damage, but low armor and defense. This group was resolved as a mob. As vehicles, they are built as background characters. Large groups can be bundled into mobs, taking a single action each turn the group resolves their actions collectively, gaining extra Stamina, Armor, and accuracy due to their numbers.
The fighters had been deployed from is a Force Battery providing a shield to the strike fighters but leaving itself vulnerable. The Overseers provided tactical support, pushing the strike fighter’s damage even higher. With the Force Battery and Overseers serving as support they avoid being targeted using cloaking systems (Stealth) . Then there was Secundus, in all his Kirby Dot glory. A Cosmic Power Level villain capable of posing a threat to the heroes without support. Backed by a squad of fighters, they posed a deadly advisory.
Split from the start of the assault. Shift on the battle cruiser’s helm, Quinn in the space station’s power core, with Michael and Otis at stations communications room. On top of the approaching squad of fighters let by Secundus the heroes would need to address the soldiers on the station.
Things got off to a rocky start with Michael abandoning Otis and the rest of the team to try and directly engage Secundus alone. Having recently seen Michael take down the leader of the Radoum refugees at the tournament, Otis and Quin decide their first concern is taking care of the soldiers on the station. Hearing Michael’s plans Shift rushes to the closest airlock to join him.
Pushing his speed Michael raced towards Secundus. In no hurry themselves, the alien champion easily obliterates the station’s orbital defenses as the fleet moves closer to the station. With no time to actually dress Shift teleports a space suit on before cycling the air lock.
Instead the station, the Thaden Guard’s training prove to be little challenge to Quinn’s wrench as she lock down the Ar’dysis soldiers closest to the engine room in a gravity well. At the same time, Otis takes another group on a long trip, as they were aged beyond their natural years. Despite their early victories, the battle had only begun.
To be continued.
